Protec Warm Roof System Rejuvenates School Roof
Case Study - Great Marsden St John's Church of England School, Lancashire

Great Marsden St John’s Church of England School required a long-term and economic waterproofing solution for a large flat roof area of approx 1000sqm. In addition the roof was inefficient in terms of thermal performance and the school needed an effective thermal upgrade to new Part L regulations. It was imperative that the refurbishment was able to be carried out as rapidly as possible with minimum disruption to the school.

The Protec Warm Roof system provided the ideal solution. As no stripping of the existing roof was required, the felt roof covering was able to be retained as a vapour control layer for the new warm roof system. Polyroof ‘RES’ Insulation boards were then fixed to the existing roof deck and coated directly with the BBA approved Protec system, providing a seamless and cost effective waterproofing solution that was fully guaranteed for 20 years. The new insulation also provided the school with cost savings through reduced fuel bills as well as bringing the roof up to building regulation standards.
